Wedding Season: Gifts, Stress, Etiquette & More!

Spring is in the air & wedding season is upon us. And the Royals are no exception! For most, this is an exciting time. But for some, it’s also a stressful time because of all the money. Even if you’re just a guest, weddings can tally in the hundreds, if not thousands for some guests.

Our team here at Rakuten.ca conducted a very important study on gift giving and we found some interesting results!

A not-so-surprising finding: Canadians say the most stressful part of attending a wedding is the expense (31%), finding the right gift (20%), and finding the right outfit (26% for women, 13% for men).

Another interesting find was that Canadians spend the most on wedding gifts at an average of $145, up from $120 in 2017. What’s also interesting, is that only 20% said they are most likely to give a luxury wedding gift, and more than half of Canadians surveyed, 52%, think it’s appropriate to give gift cards as a wedding gift while 65% said they would appreciate receiving a gift card as a wedding gift. Guess what? Rakuten has a Gift Card Shop perfect for every occasion.

So, what does this all mean? It means you can rest easy, wedding warriors, because Rakuten is here to help you save with all your shopping needs, and from the comfort of your home. Some stress can be reduced by shopping for your outfit, your gift, and more all while getting Cash Back.

Most couples register at Hudson’s Bay, Bed Bath and Beyond, and even Amazon. The good news is that you can get Cash Back for buying their gifts online while ensuring you’re getting the couple exactly what they want.
