It’s okay, you’re not alone. More importantly, this isn’t the end of the road. You can get back on track with your resolutions and we’ll tell you how.
First, only make one to three resolutions each year. If your list of resolutions was bigger, it’s time to pick your top three. Only keep the ones that are going to make the biggest positive impact on your life.
Before choosing which resolutions to keep, ask yourself:
- What do I want to improve the most in my life this year?
- Why do I want to accomplish this goal?
- How will achieving this goal impact my life?

Bulleting the heck out of your journal!
You must’ve heard of the term bullet journaling by now. If not, lets catch you up.
The bullet journaling method was invented by Ryder Carroll. Basically, it’s your daily planner/diary in bullet form. Instead of writing full sentences, Ryder devised a faster, more organized way to get sh*t done.
It’s a combination of to-do lists, a planner and a diary — all in your own shorthand and in the form of bullets. Not only will you be more organized, but it’s also therapeutic.
How will it help with your New Year’s resolution? You’ll need to break down your goals into bite-sized tasks and write them down in your journal. The idea is to work towards those tasks every day. Jot down daily reminders and then record the progress you made and analyze it monthly.
You don’t have to buy Ryder’s special bullet journal, you can buy a simple notebook, highlighters, and pens to begin with. If you’re a stationary buff and like getting fancy on a budget, this is your chance to get creative with washi tape and coloured pens!
It ain’t official until it’s in the calendar
Y’know those people who seem super organized? They are the ones who are always on time and never forget anything. It’s not because they have amazingly organized brains, but because they put everything on their calendar!
Dentist’s appointment? Calendar.
Grocery shopping? Calendar.
Birthdays and anniversaries? You guessed it. Calendar.
No matter how small or big a task is, get in the habit of recording it on your calendar. After that, feel free to forget about it until your calendar sends you a reminder and DO NOT forget to set those reminders!
Once you get in the habit of putting everything in your calendar, you’ll be just like those super organized folks.
The same applies to your New Year’s Resolutions; from drinking more water to eating healthier, to going to the gym a few times a week, whatever your New Year’s resolutions schedule them. Then, all you need to do is follow the calendar and do whatever it tells you to do.
Make tech your friend
When it comes to tech, there’s good news and bad news. The good news is that it’s 2019 and there’s tech for everything these days. The bad news? You’re not using the tech to improve your life! No matter what your New Year’s resolution was, there’s tech (or an app!) for it.
Wanna live a healthier lifestyle? Get a Fitbit or Apple Watch. It’ll help you set goals, monitor your heart rate, count your steps and remind you to move if you’ve been idle too long… but, that’s just the tip of the iceberg of everything they can do for you.
Look into apps that will help you achieve and keep track of your resolutions. Trust us… there’s an app for everything.
