About Ebates Canada

Ebates is the pioneer and leader of online Cash Back Shopping. The company was founded in 1998 by two Deputy District Attorneys in Silicon Valley who used to prosecute online fraud & identity theft before starting Ebates… So you can be sure we are very into secure online transactions!

In the summer of 2012, Ebates began international expansion with the launch of Ebates Canada, specifically designed by Canadians for Canadians. More than 750 online stores that ship to Canada have joined the roster of retailers to offer Cash Back, special deals, including free shipping, and coupons to members of Ebates Canada.

Joining Ebates Canada is always free – you’ll never pay us for anything. Instead, four times a year or more, we’ll pay you! We’ll mail you a Big Fat Cheque, or transfer the money you earn to your PayPal account if you’d prefer. We can even send the money to your favourite charity. All 100% free.

How It Works

Every time you shop online at your favourite retailers, you earn back a percentage of every purchase. From niceties to necessities, members of Ebates.ca save with discounts and Cash Back at top-name merchants. Whether you’re shopping for everything from furniture to fashion and appliances to airfare. Shopping with Ebates Canada is hassle-free. No forms to fill out and no points or miles to redeem. Just straightforward savings plus Cash Back.

People often ask: “This sounds too good to be true, how are you able to do it?” It’s really quite simple. Just like almost every other online shopping centre, we get a commission from the stores when you make a purchase. Instead of keeping that money – we share it with you!

As long as hundreds of the world’s top online stores are happy to pay a bonus to attract the new, valuable customers we send their way, Ebates.ca is going to continue to send Big Fat Cheques to our satisfied Canadian members!

Ebates Canada, headquartered in Toronto, ON, Canada, is a division of Ebates Inc., owner of the world’s most rewarding shopping programs. The Ebates brand supports a strong community of savvy shoppers around the world, and has paid out nearly $1 billion to its global members. In 2014, Ebates was acquired by Rakuten, Inc.

On August firt 2016 I bought something on Amazon.ca. It cost me $27,74. It was written 4% if we buy on Amazon.ca. How come I received only 4 cents.

    Thank you for your answer.

      Hi Nicole,

Amazon has tiered categories, which means that members can earn up to 4% Cash Back. Depending on the category you bought in, you would receive the amount of Cash Back assigned to that category. You can find the Cash Back tiers for Amazon here. You can always reach out to our Member Services team if you need to contact them for any additional help like this.

      Thanks! -Melissa, Ebates Canada Team

No clear way to opt out. No indication on how to terminate an account. Stuck in the booby trap. Marketing too aggressive. Hate iebates. Crap.

    • The Savvy Shopping Specialists

Hey Luc, Sorry to hear you feel this way!
The help page is a good resource for any help you may need: https://www.ebates.ca/help.
I’d suggest heading there and clicking “Contact Member Services” under the “How We Can Help” section at the top.
They can definitely help you to opt out and terminate your account. If you’re talking about opting out of e-mails, every one of our emails has an unsubscribe button near the bottom footer of the email. You can also update this preference by looking for “Email Preferences” under “My Account”: https://www.ebates.ca/member/subscriptions. You check off which email programs you would no longer like to receive. Just a note: it can take a few days for the emails to stop being sent.
Apologies for your experience & we’re sorry to see you go.
      -Melissa, Ebates Canada Team
